SAP HR Interview Questions : Job and Position

From time to time, I will add interesting SAP HR interview questions that I come across so that it will not only help me clarify concepts myself but also be of help to everyone.

Here's one

Q. What is the difference between a Job and Position?

A. Job is a Generic term (Eg: Engineer) where as Position is Specific (Engineer - Computer). We assign a Position to a Job.

Assign employee subgroup to employee group : SAP HR Enterprise Structure

Assigning a employee subgroup to employee group is another important step in enterprise structure.

Menu path:

IMG -> Enterprise Structure -> Assignment -> Human Resources Management -> Assign employee subgroup to employee group

SAP HR Enterprise Structure - Assignment of Personnel Area to Company Code

This is a very important step in enterprise structure - to assign a personnel area to a country code.

Menu path: IMG -> Enterprise Structure -> Assignment -> Human Resources Management -> Assignment of Personnel Area to Company Code




Notes:

One personnel area cannot be assigned to more than one company code .

Personnel Area is defined as a subdivision of a company code which could represent a
geographic location or function area. This definition of a personnel area explains why you cannot
assign a personnel area to more than one company code.

Enterprise Structure in SAP HR

One of the first things I learned in SAP HR is the concept of Enterprise Structure. There are five main areas of interest in Enterprise Structure which include

• Client
  
• Company Code
  
• Personnel Areas
• Personnel Sub areas
• Organizational Key
  

While Company code is set up in the Financial module of SAP (FI) the rest can be configures in SAP HR. The menu path for configuring the Personnel Areas and Personnel sub areas : IMG -> Enterprise Structure -> Definition -> Human Resources Management
